Get to Really Know Yourself

When you get very intimate with yourself, you increase your power to create. Know your body, your emotions, your moods and your tendencies. Know what makes your heart sing and what makes you cringe.
 
Be aware of how your body responds to food, exercise, massage and other physical acts.  Be aware of how you are feeling in any given moment and acknowledge your power to find a way to feel better and better.
 
Figure out what makes you crazy and manage your life to leave that out, if you can.  Figure out what thrills you and get more and more of that. The first step in knowing.

Cut Yourself Some Slack

Love Yourself First (Day 3 of 5)
Forgiveness is an enormously beneficial life skill and self-forgiveness even more so.  We all screw up.  We all sometimes behave in ways that are in conflict with what we intended or planned or aspired to.
 
We lose our temper, or eat something we swore not to, or skip going to the gym.  This is often followed by calling ourselves names, like loser or failure and then comes the throwing up our hands and giving up part.  Stop that cycle.  
 
Have a good look at the perceived mistake, see what you can learn from it, and then forgive yourself, let it go and move on! Say thanks for the lesson and start again with more information in your arsenal. Pay attention to your self-talk and never ever be unkind.

The theme for this week is about self love and care, giving yourself a break, treating your whole self like the divine, precious, unique being that you are.
 
Modern people, especially women, pride themselves on being busy.  “I don’t have time” is a way too common mantra. We expect ourselves to be super women; super moms, wives, mothers, housekeepers, business people… we take on everything and expect to excel at everything and completely neglect ourselves.  Worse, we berate ourselves when we don’t live up to the impossibly high standards we set for ourselves.  
 
Until the signs show up in our bodies in the form of sickness or disease that forces us to stop.  Today, flip that around.  Take an hour to just loll around and do something that...

Love Yourself First (Day 2 of 5)
If you ask the person that you think has the most amazing body, you will probably find that she can give you a giant list of faults that only she can see. No matter how beautiful you think she is, she is likely to not agree with you.
 
This is proof that achieving the ideal weight or shape is not going to make you feel better. Making the choice to love yourself exactly like you are and re-affirming that every day is the best way to achieve the level of confidence and comfort that you want.
 
If you love and work in harmony with your body, just like it is right now, think how awesome you will feel when you have met your health goals!  Get your mind and heart all lined up and in love with your body, and your body will get matched up with that.
 
I have sticky notes on all of my mirrors that say “I love you”, to help me remember to do this.  Love yourself first, right now.

Watch What You Say (Day 5 of 5)
 
I am especially guilty of this, just chattering on about nothing or making random observations that would have been just as well kept to myself. Or saying 30 words when 5 or 10 would do. I’m working on it.
 
Ask yourself if what you are about to say is an improvement on the silence. If your words don’t have value, just let them be and leave them unsaid.  When we are not speaking we are MUCH better listeners.

Test Your Words For Kindness

Watch What You Say (Day 4 of 5)
You may think that it is a good idea to shout unkind words at your enemy, but it never is.  Even though I don’t use the word “never”, I feel OK about it in this instance.
 
Slow down, look at your words before they leave your mouth and if they are unkind, keep them to yourself or find another way to make your point. This is the second test. Is it kind?

Watch What You Say (Day 3 of 5)
Sometimes we say words for no good reason, with no regard to whether they are adding to the world or not. The next three days we are referencing the teachings of Miguel Ruiz and learning to be impeccable with our words.
 
Today, we are focused on truth.  This one is easy. If you are about to say something that is untrue, for whatever reason, don’t. Stop yourself. Even if you think you are making things better with your words, if it isn’t the truth, find another way. The end doesn’t necessarily justify the means.  If it’s not true, don’t say it.

Don't Be Against; Always Be FOR

Watch What You Say (Day 2 of 5)
Mother Theresa was asked to attend an anti-war rally and she refused.  She said, if you have a pro-Peace rally, invite me. A war against anything is rarely effective. If you see something in the world that you really wish didn’t exist, find the opposite of it and be FOR that.  
 
Instead of putting your energy towards fighting against a political candidate you don’t like, put it towards supporting the candidate that you DO like. Instead of being against cancer, be FOR perfect health.  
 
Not against hunger, but for plenty. Everything in the Universe has an opposite, so find the positive and put your attention and your words there.

Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan

This is sounding way off for free-spirited me, but hear me out. Having a plan gives you a sense of security, a sense of having guidelines for staying on your path, like the white and yellow lines on the highway.
 
Don’t beat yourself up if you vary from the plan, but have one; and enjoy the way your plan feels like order, structure and stability.

Say What You DO Want

Watch What You Say (Day 1 of 5)
We are going to do something different this week and have a theme for the week.  The theme is the power of words and how you can master yours.
 
Day 1 – Don’t say what you don’t want, say what you DO want. Words have energy and the universe does not recognize negatives. So instead of saying “I don’t want to be late”, say “I want to be early.”  Instead of “get out of debt” say “achieve positive bank balances”, or “live in financial abundance and freedom”.  
 
If you don’t want it to appear in your life, don’t say it!  Find the opposite, the word that represents what you DO want and say those words instead.  In addition to speaking more powerful words, you have shifted your whole vibration to a higher plane simply by the act of looking for positive words and putting your attention on what you want.
