How Do We Cope With The Loss of a Loved One?

“You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don’t recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself plainly when you have need of him.” – Professor Dumbledore – Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of  Azkaban – J K Rowling.

Sometimes when I am not inspired on any particular message for these daily mails, I will reach out to loved ones and see what is on their mind.  In this way, I know at least one person is served by the message for the day. Today it was my beloved niece and she told me she lost her grandmother last night.

Me: “Oh sweetie, I’m so sorry.  Are you ok?”

Alison:  “I’m OK.  She’s in paradise now and will never hurt again.”

Alison is absolutely inspired in her belief.  Death is a very complex subject; well for humans it...

Do You Relate To The Power Of Routine?

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

I actually had a hard time finding a famous quote that was in favor of routine and ritual, which very much surprised me.  It seems that in the modern world, we have begun to think that “routine” means “mundane and meaningless.”  Yet the greatest teachers, like Zig Zigler, know that repetition is the mother of learning.  There is no better way to really form a new, beneficial habit than by creating a daily ritual or routine and retrain our minds to the new idea.

One of my favorite routines is to take time, before I even get out of bed to make my “To BE” list.  This could also be called my “I AM” list.  I review the things I want to do in that day and my current goals, think about the qualities I need to have to do them well, and put on those qualities.  For...

How Do You Cope With Feeling Overwhelmed?

“The hurrier I go the behinder I get”
–
Lewis Carroll “Alice in Wonderland”

Sometimes, when our lives are going great and we have momentum in the direction of our dreams, we can start to feel like there is too much to do, not enough time to do it and too many people who want our attention.

It is easy in these times to race through everything that we do, with our gaze fixed on the next things on our list. This can feel unsatisfying, because at the end of the day we have raced and raced and maybe accomplished some things, but we were never fully present and we raced right past our joy AND still feel like we are behind.

We can only do one thing at a time and do it well. Be present for the task at hand, having faith that everything will get done at the perfect time. Refuse to allow a sense of being frantic, insist on being calm and present. Do this ONE thing, do it well, and then move on to the next.

Are You Thinking About Well-Being Or Well- Doing?

“The first wealth is health.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

We are talking this week about health and well-being, in preparation for the free webinar this weekend, “Be Happy and Grow Rich…. and Thin.” This seems to be about banishing pounds, but it’s really not. It’s about being in harmony with your body and treating it as the holy temple it is.

We often think that our actions; fad diets and torturing ourselves through some exercise routine we hate, are the way to feeling great and being healthy, but this is Well-DOing. Well-BEing is honoring and nurturing the link between our bodies and our Selves and learning to live in peace of mind and physical vitality.

Love your body today!  Just exactly like it is. No matter what the condition of your current health or weight, your body knows how to be vital and strong. We just have to learn to listen and that starts by honoring and respecting ourselves. Sign up...

What If It Was Easy?

“…and if you know that life is supposed to be fun, you know more than almost anybody else knows.”  Abraham Hicks

Once again, I had a hard time finding a famous quote that aligns with my message for today. We humans, especially Americans, still place a high value on “hard” work and expect that anything good that comes to us comes at a price. “There’s no such thing as a free lunch”, “money doesn’t grow on trees”, “no pain, no gain”…..negative idioms like this pervade our existence and completely divert us from the point.

And the point is, life is supposed to be fun! Our work is supposed to be joyful and not feel like work at all!  We should be basking in the flow of abundance, but instead we insist on paddling upstream, taking the hardest route, wearing our blood, sweat and tears as badges of honor.

Decide to view things differently!  Stop and ask your Self,...

Do You Choose Happiness?

“We’ve pushed happiness over the cognitive horizon, as a society. And that’s because we think we have to be successful, then we’ll be happier. But our brains work in the opposite order. If you can raise somebody’s level of positivity in the present, then their brain experiences what we now call a happiness advantage, which is your brain at positive performs significantly better than at negative, neutral or stressed.”
–
Shawn Achor “The Happy Secret to Better Work”

What we all really want is to be happy. We strive for money, health, love, success and material objects because we believe having those things and reaching those goals will make us happy. If someone said, you can have $1 million every year, but in exchange, you must be lonely, miserable and ill, would you take it?  If we are being honest, most of us would say no.

Don’t misunderstand, we are meant to have all of the...

Are You Waiting For The Right Time?

“In a moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing to do, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”
–
Theodore Roosevelt

We have all felt the tug of a new idea, a new way that we can begin to live fuller lives, moving in the direction of our dreams and NOT acted on that tug. Then life intervenes and the inspiration fades. We look back at our lives and ask ourselves “why”. Why didn’t I start last week, last month, last year, to build the life I really want?

The good news is, we have a new opportunity, every day, to seize that inspiration and take the step we see; even if we are afraid, even if we have doubt, even if our current patterns and life are holding on to us for dear life! If you see a step you can take today in the direction of your dreams, take it! If you are waiting for everything to line up perfectly, that day will never come.

Are You Forgiving Of Yourself?

“Do as the heavens have done, forget your evil; With them forgive yourself.”  Shakespeare

We often magnify our mistakes by dwelling on them and beating ourselves up over them. Time and energy squandered. Instead, take the learning, forgive yourself, and move on. Everyone who is growing makes mistakes and experiences failure. But it’s not really a failure unless you quit.

Everything we learn to do, we learn by making mistakes. Think if babies gave up on learning to walk after falling down a few times. You don’t see toddlers throwing up their hands and saying, “oh well, I guess I wasn’t meant to be a walker.” They keep trying and falling down many times and eventually become very successful walkers!

Today, take the learning from your mistakes and seemingly bad choices, forgive yourself and move on. Live today well, not dwelling in what may have happened yesterday.

Do You Celebrate Your Birthday?

Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!  Dr. Seuss

Today is my birthday!  I am 51 today and have never felt more alive, vital and happy in my own skin. My health is amazing and my weight is nearly perfect, for me. I am in love with my life and even more in love with my work, which is teaching others to be in love with their lives too.

As humans, especially Americans, we have cultural limiting beliefs about age. We think that it’s “normal” to be heavier, have aching joints, have things falling apart, and it’s just not true. We are supposed to live in joy and love our bodies every day of our lives. And the way to make this happen is to change those limiting beliefs and begin to think in a different way. I have the tools to help you.

This year, celebrate being born!  Celebrate another year of life and decide that this year is going to have more growth and transformation...

What Do You See When You Look In The Mirror?

“I find that when we really love and accept and approve of ourselves exactly as we are, then everything in life works.”  Louise L. Hay

We are talking this week about health and well-being, in preparation for the free webinar this weekend, “Be Happy and Grow Rich…. and Thin.”  This seems to be about banishing pounds, but it’s really not.  It’s about being in harmony with your body and treating it as the holy temple it is.

Many of us look in the mirror and only see our “flaws”; in fact we search them out and criticize ourselves, completely missing all of the beautiful parts.  For every perceived imperfection or affliction, there are thousands of things that are lovely about you and your body.  Choose to focus on those instead.

Today, instead of criticizing, look in the mirror and look for what you love.  You may have an amazing smile, or beautiful skin or lovely eyes or...
