Do You Take Time To Connect With Your Highest Self?

Uncategorized May 23, 2016

“…people say they don’t have time to meditate.  That’s like saying ‘I don’t have time to find my keys, so I’ll just walk to work’.” – Abraham – (Esther Hicks)

This week we are going to ponder and explore meditation; specifically the Four Agreements, as written by Don Miguel Ruiz and taught to me by my guru, davidji.  Inspired by this awesome weekend meditation.
The Four Agreements are:  1. Be impeccable with your words.  2. Don’t take anything personally.  3. Don’t make assumptions.  4. Always do your best.
We will delve more deeply into each of these, but first, do you have a meditation practice?  Do you take time to connect with your breath, with stillness and silence, with your greater self?
If you have never meditated or don’t have a practice, try this.  Breath in for 4 seconds, hold that for 4 seconds, breath out for 4 seconds, pause with empty lungs for 4 seconds, then repeat.  Do this 4 times and you have meditated for 1 minute.  It is a great place to start.
Many studies have been done on the benefits of meditation. My favorite is that meditation actually retrains your brain. A regular meditation practice helps to hone our ability to respond, instead of react. It teaches us to pause and consider what we will think, feel, say or do in response to things that happen in our world.
The alternative is to simply go through each day reacting; powerless and at the mercy of circumstances. The truth is we are all greater than any condition, and meditation helps us access that still small voice within us that knows this truth.
Take a minute, or five, or 30 today, to be still and connect with your Source.
